On 6th September at the Docking Station, 108 High Street, Brentwood, Middlesex TW8 8AT, Ealing Juniors formally began. Our Juniors will play in the fourth division of the Thames Valley League and the Thames Valley Knock-out Cup this season.

Botvinnik Memorial Super Rapid

OK, it was only a rapid tournament but with the top four players in the world competing the result is worthy of notice. Viswanathan Anand was in outstanding form scoring 4.5 from 6. The world's top rated player Magnus Carlsen languished at the bottom of the table with 1.5 (three losses and three draws). In the middle with three points were Vldimir Krmnik and Lev Aronian.

John Quinn, our president and former British under 21 champion gave a simultaneous display aginst Ealing members and prospective members on 1st September. His result of nine wins, two draws and two losses was very praiseworthy but many of his opponents performed excellently.
