Athenaum 1.5 - Ealing 6.5

A good victory for Ealing on Monday maintains our challenge in the first division of the Middlesex league.

Athenaeum showed seven changes from their team at the Harvester last October but Ealing were able to field six players from last year's team.

Jim Poulton led the way from top board with his first win for Ealing and Alan Perkins and Martin Smith gave excellent support with smooth victories on two and three.

Sainbayar Tserendorj was actually the first to finish after launching a checkmating attack and John Quinn produced some interesting chess to win his game. Tony Wells made a winning debut on board eight and we warmly welcome him to the colours.
