Geoff Richards writes: last Thursday 5th March we played host to high riding Staines 'B' at the Harvester.
We got off to a flying start with my early win against that well known player D. Fault, enabling me to spend the rest of the evening playing social games and watching the rest of the team earn it's corn. 1-0 to Ealing.
The next to finish was Steve Gibbs on board 4, who despite being seriously jet lagged, managed to dispose of his opponent in little more than an hour. 2-0 to Ealing.
He was quickly followed by Raj Jhooti on board 3 who took advantage of his opponent's withdrawl of a key defensive piece to prosecute a simple mating attack. 3-0 to Ealing.
On board 5, Jerry Ball was in a bit of a tangle in his favourite French defence until his opponent obligingly blundered a knight. Jerry's end game technique did the rest. 4-0 to Ealing.
On board 1 Simon Healeas' game was always materially even and a draw was agreed. 4.5 - 0.5 to Ealing.
At the call of time Harvey Grewal was a pawn up with what appears to be a winning position. The position has been submitted for adjudication, claiming a win.
