Ealing A 3.5 - Kingston A 4.5

Bottom of the Thames Valley league table Kingston, inflicted a shock win over Ealing at the Harvester tonight.

The pre-match prognosis suggested that second placed Ealing would canter to an easy victory but Kingston upset the Ealing apple cart by failing to read the home side's script.

Three well-contested draws by Veljko Stanisic, Simon Healeas and Mike Lamb gave us a solid start and with Sainbayar Tserendorj and I adding victories, Ealing appeared to have the basis for victory in the match as we stretched out to a 3.5-1.5 lead. Regretfully from our view point Kingston snatched three late wins on boards one, two and seven and their triumph not only gives them real hopes of avoiding relegation but severely dents Ealing's aspirations of a third successive Thaames Valley title.

What is certain is that Ealing will never give up and with four matches to go, we can still maintain a championship challenge if we finish our season strongly.
