Geoff Richards writes:
Last in and first out was Steve Gibbs on board 4 who left for home at only 9:15pm having seen off his opponent most competently. 1-0 to Ealing.
On board 6 I had a difficult opening and entered the middle game with a constricted position although under no direct threat. Fortunately my opponent over estimated the situation and made an unsound sacrifice, letting me off the hook and enabling me to prevail. 2-0 to Ealing.
Whilst all this was going on Raj Jhooti and Sam Sarna on boards 2 and 3 respectively were quietly building up winning positions that they both successfully converted for the full point. 4-0 to Ealing and the match won.
At the call of time Jason Obihara on board 5 was a pawn down but with all the threats and was planning to go to adjudication claiming a win. However, subsequent analysis indicated that the win would be highly problematical and so a draw was agreed the following day. 4.5 - 0.5 to Ealing.
This all left Dale Gibbons on board 1 adjourning two pawns to the good and confident of a win.
Also just to mention that Simon Healeas's adjourned game from the match against Maidenhead C was agreed drawn without further resumption, so the final score was 4.5 - 1.5 to Ealing. Well done Simon.
So we now have three points from three games and are entitled to approach the remaining fixtures with every confidence.
