Anand misses a great chance in game nine
: Created:07 May 2010 , byEvery game in this world championship match has been a genuine contest and following the games on the Internet has been very worthwhile
I've been on the Bulgarian official site, Susan Polgar's popular blog and my own Fritz computer. Today's two rooks versus a queen middlegame is a classic chess problem and when Topalov's match policy of mixing up the tactics failed this time, Anand had many chances to achieve victory. That he came up short and allowed a draw will fuel suspicion that Anand, the older man is not in top physical shape for the latter stages of an important match. However an extended look with Anish Giri on Chessbase at the moves suggest that Topalov may be just as tired.
