We are routing for Andy Murray on Sunday but who was the world's best tennis player sixty-odd years ago?

The answer is Fred Perry who in his formative years lived in Pitshanger Lane W13 and attended school at Drayton Green and Ealing County.

Perry was the first to win all four major titles - Australian, French, Wimbledon and United States opens  - a fantastic achievement when worldwide travel was unusual.

Arguably he established a record as our greatest sportsman of the the Twentieth Century.
