The Championship began today in Kocaeli, Turkey.

Yu Yangyi from China is the top seed with a ranking of 2662. Many will favour Alexander Ipatov 2601 who has home advantage.

The Junior World Championship can produce World Champions, Anatoly Karpov but there have been plenty of junior underachievers e.g. Walter Hug.
