Anand 2 Carlsen 2
: Created:13 Nov 2013 , byIt is still all square in the world championship but games three and four have been genuine contests, thank goodness!
Magnus Carlsen again chose the Reti Opening in game three. Some experts believe that Vishy Anand could have safely grabbed a pawn in the middlegame. Anand was more circumspect and the game petered out into a draw.
For those of you who like queenless middlegames the rediscovery by Vladimir Kramnik of 3...Nf6 against the Ruy Lopez (aka The Berlin Wall) in his match against Gary Kasparov was a moment of chess history. Carlsen defended with the Wall today and Anand with White found himself on the defensive most of the game. At crucial points Anand found the best continuation to frustrate Carlsen.
