Raymond Keene Loses

Those of you that follow Ray's daily Times column will be as astonished as I am that GM Keene ever lost a game. When David Bronstein drew with Mikhael Botvinnik in their 1951 World championship match, Bronstein little realised that his crowning moment would come in the Teeside tournament of 1975 when he beat world number one, England's Ray Keene.

I assume that Ray was number one because his column contains so many Keene victories including three over Tony Miles (same game) and lots over opponents I have never heard of. It has been a little puzzling that Ray has omitted his frequent triumphs over Tigran Petroshan, Boris Spassky and Anatoly Karpov but Ray is a shy fellow unwilling to publish his achievements.
