Monday 5th September: 19th Annual Lightning Tournament
Monday 12th September: Alan Perkins Simul
The ever popular (and manic) Lightning Tournament returns for its 19th iteration on the first Monday of September.
The rules are simple: ten minutes each per game and as many games as you can fir into the time available.
To level the playing field somewhat, players will be split into three grading categories at the start of the evening and wherever possible should seek opponents in the same grading group. The tournament controller will take a dim view of well graded players avoid their peers!
The emphasis is on having fun and players are not encouraged to play on and on in clearly drawn positions. Competitors drop in and out of the tournament at their choosing for beer and cigarette breaks.
The winners of each graind group will receive an engraved trophy and the overall winner will be crowned Ealing Lightning Champion for 2016.
On the following Monday, Alan Perkins takes on all-comers in a Simultaneous Display.
Both events will be held in the Old Actonians Sports Bar at 7:30om for a prompt 7:45 start. Entry is free to club members.
