The Middlesex League
: Created:22 Feb 2008 , byThe first of three reports on the progress of our teams this season
Ealing's first team lie third in division one after the completion of nine matches. Inevitably the big two, King's Head and Hackney are ahead of us and the struggle for the title could be decided on 1st May when they meet at King's Head. Ealing might yet have a say in the destination of the championship because we drew with both of them in the first half of the season and we visit King's Head on 10th March and entertain Hackney on 26th April.
League positions 1. King's Head 9.5/10 2. Hackney 6.5/8 3. Ealing 5/9 4-5. Athenaeum 4.5/9 Imperial 4.5/9 6. West London 3/9 7. Hendon 2.5/8 8. Metropolitan 0.5/9
With five first teams in the second division of the Middlesex league, Ealing's second string are going great guns, securing a wonderful victory this Tuesday over second placed Willesden 1. Our tail wagged ferociously in the match and our 4.5-3.5 win takes us up into fourth place. We can fairly claim to be the strongest second team in this league and with four home fixtures to come and only one away tie it might get even better. Muswell Hill strike us as far and away the strongest team in the division but it could be a close fight to decide who gets promoted with them.
League positions 1. Muswell Hill 1 9/9 2. Willesden 1 7/9 3. Hammersmith 1 6/9 4. Albany 1 5/8 5. Ealing II 4/9 6. Harrow 1 2/8 7. Hendon II 1/7 Metropolitan II 1/11
