King's Head A 5 - Ealing A 3

: Created:10 Mar 2008 , by

Ealing gave King's Head a good fight tonight but we could not prevent the Middlesex title holders from recording their tenth victory of the season

Undoubtedly our star of the evening was John Quinn who forced a win in the closing minutes of the match against a well-rated opponent. John made superb use of the black squares to exploit the entanglement of his foe's kingside pieces. He was supported by excellent draws from Ben Clissold, playing in his second match for the club and rising talent, Gary Smith on board eight. We also drew on boards two and five.

The latest league table shows King's Head well ahead on 10.5 from 11, Hackney still in touch with 7.5 from 9, Ealing and Athenaeum third equal with 6 from 11 and 6 from 12 respectively. Imperial fifth with 5 from 11, Hendon with 5.5 from 10 just ahead of West London with 3 from 10 and Metropolitan, our next opponent tailed off with 0.5 from 10.
