: Created:11 Mar 2008 , byVishy Anand and Viktor Kramnik meet in Bonn this autumn for the World Championship
Reigning champion Anand was a well deserved winner in the recent super-strength, Morelia/Linares tournament but the performance of seventeen-year-old, Magnus Carlsen in second place was a sensation. Lev Aronian and former world champion, Veselin Topalov shared third and fourth and such great players as the Ukranian lion, Vasily Ivanchuk and Hungarian, Peter Leko who drew his attempt at the world championship against Kramnik in 2004, were below them in the final, eight player order.
The championship match will start on 14th October 2008 and will consist of twelve games but in step with the Kramnik versus Topalov contest of 2006, there will not be a drawn result. The play-offs in such an event are scheduled for 2nd November.
