Ealing A 6.5 - Maidenhead A 1.5
: Created:21 Mar 2008 , byTonight's home victory over Maidenhead in the first division of the Thames Valley league might be the most significant result of this championship season.
Because of the plenitude of undecided matches in the top division, it has been unclear until now which club has the true advantage but I believe that this result confirms Ealing as strong favourites for a second successive league title. Martin Smith, Adrian Ociepka, Sainbayar Tserendorj and I won this evening and Rick McMichael, Simon Randall and Mike Lamb drew.
Ealing move on to 9.5 from 12 matches but our remaining opponents, Surbiton and (theoretically) Richmond could yet catch us with a strong series of wins. Poor performances by us could also let Maidenhead or Kingston back in. Alex, Arsene, Avram and Rafael are not counting their chickens before they hatch so neither are we.
