Ealing B 2 - Wimbledon C 2 ---- Latest Ealing Win 5-2

: Created:31 Mar 2008 , by

There is tantalising possibility that Ealing might achieve its first victory in the second division of the Thames Valley league after adjourning two-a piece on 27th March. John Harvey and Alastair Johnstone sealed our victory on 24th April and Simon Healeas also won his game.

A superb win on board one by Mark Winterbotham galvanised a team that regetfully is already certain to be relegated from the Thames Valley second tier. Jason Obihara offered excellent support with a good draw and Gary Smith was disappointed not to get the full point after being a piece up at one point. A loss in the middle order left us all square at the end of the first session of play.

However crossing our fingers, the three remaining games appear advantageous for Ealing and our combatants, Simon Healeas, Alastair Johnstone and John Harvey are very hopeful of opening our win column with a victory over our South London opponents.

Simon triumphed in his adjudicated game for which I congratulate him. John won his adjourned game meritoriously over the board but Alastair's opponent failed to appear at the Harvester for his continuation. It was a double discourtesy by the Wimbledon player because he failed to contact Alastair at any time before or after the 24th April. Poor manners!
