Ealing C 3 Eton College 3

Eton trailed three-two at the end of the night's play but their board one sealed the best move to win the adjourned game, thereby drawing the match.

Captain Geoff Richards wrote at the end of last week:
Last Thursday 30th October we played host to the new team in the league from Eton College. Clocks were started punctually at 7:30, as previously requested by our opponents, who then proceeded to arrrive fifteen minutes later!
On board 2 Raj Jhooti soon found himself in trouble against the 131 rated master-in-charge and could not recover the situation. 0-1 to Eton. On board 6 Amardeep Sachdev was a pawn down early on with little prospect of counterplay, but a mistake by his opponent presented the opportunity of a back row mate, forcing his resignation 1-1.
On board 4 Jerry Ball lost material early on but doggedly hung on to recover the deficit only to waste his efforts by blundering away a rook soon afterwards. 1-2 to Eton. On board 5 your captain was a pawn up in a superior but by no means won position when his opponent spent several minutes considering his thirtieth move oblivious to the fact that his flag was about to fall 2-2.
On board 3 Harvey Grewal chalked up the full point against his 118 rated opponent. 3-2 to Ealing. This all left Simon Healeas on board 1 going to adjournement the exchange for a pawn down. If Simon can hold the draw (and this is certainly possible) then we will gain our first win of the season - no pressure then Simon.
